RARE • Pleasant Co White Body Samantha Doll (1986/1987): The doll head was made in September to November of 1986. She has the November 1986 neck stamp, the larger boxier teeth with rounded edges which are not connected at the top of the teeth. The face paint is the petal pink version. She has 1987 dark chocolate eyes, opaque salmon colored limb cups, white muslin body, and the hanging strings at back of neck are long and flat. She has the longer medium brown wig with shorter hairs under the long hair to cover the straight edged wig cap. Her face is soft and squeezable. She comes in a ©1986 Made in West Germany (Paper Tag) Plaid Dress with a Wide Matching Taffeta Hair Bow, Stockings and Mary Jane Shoes. I have included bloomers though the 1986/1987 dolls did not come with them. There is a 1986 Hair Care for Your Doll Hangtag on her wrist. • RARE • Pleasant Co School Dress (1986 tags/1986 Release): Buster Brown Dress Made in West Germany, Hair Bow-Black Satin. This dress made in West Germany has lighter flannel with more variance in the color when compared to a 1986 Made in China dress. This German dress uses smaller indented top buttons. RARE• Pleasant Co School Lunchbox Version 1 (1986-1987): This was the first set made for Pleasant Company by Silvestri a importer of Christmas decorations. The set has Silvestri stickers on the whole peach and the deviled egg. And has a “Made in Hong Kong exclusively for Department 56” sticker on the bottom of the Tea Tin Lunchbox. On this 1986 version of the ½ sandwich, the bread is smooth and the color of wheat bread. The lettuce is sticking out much farther than the revised 1988 version. • RARE • © 1984 Kurt S. Adler Christmas Clara Doll with Nutcracker Version 1: (Released in 1986) Before Pleasant Company had their productions lines running, they outsourced items. Kurt S. Adler was a leading importer of Christmas decorations. This first Clara doll was one of his. The face mold resembles early German Gotz dolls and is painted with very pale matte finish. She has very thick long dark brown hair that went to her lower bottom. Her arms from Spine to fingertips are 2.25.” She is bendable at the hips so she can sit. This doll’s dress has 3 buttons, sits lower on the body and the skirt has different ribbon. The shoes are painted a soft pink. The wooden nutcracker has more white hair and a brighter blue painted hat. Kurt S. Adler made these dolls for at least through 1987 as the Copyrights indicate. The 1986 doll’s tag includes Kurt S. Adler for Pleasant Company. In 1988, some slight modifications were made to this version of the Clara doll. The dress eliminated one of the buttons, there was a different color paint on the shoes and a slightly darker wig. RIBBON BOX Includes a ©1986 Christmas Pamphlet

• RARE • © 1985 Kurt S. Adler Christmas Music Box Version 1 (1986) Before Pleasant Company had their productions lines running, they outsourced items. Kurt S. Adler was a leading importer of Christmas decorations. This first music box was one of his. The design on the front includes an oval shape and the type is in all capital letters. The Adler music boxes have a different title page than latter versions. There is also a two-page introduction written by Kurt S. Adler talking about Christmas carols. He intended this to be a Christmas ornament for the tree and so his version had a thin cord to allow it to be hung. By 1987, the production lines were established and his name was eliminated on the title page. The introduction pages were also removed. The gold cord was still on some for another year. By the end of the 1980s the front was redesigned and now featured a circle on the front and on the title page. That design was not changed through the rest of its time on the market. • RARE • Pleasant Co Birthday Mohair Teddy Bear (1987 tags/1987 Release). The First Version Made by Merrythought Teddy Bear Shop and Museum in Ironbridge, England with that on the tag on bottom of foot. Merrythought bears had three color versions on the eyes, brown, amber and orange. Most have opaque light brown eyes. Amber and orange are rare. This one has Amber eyes. Made of real mohair, later versions were made of polyester blend. Includes a© 1987 Birthday Pamphlet

• RARE • Pleasant Co Birthday Lemonade Set Version 1: (1987-1988) The original Butterfly White Tablecloth which is really rare, 2 White Lace Trimmed Napkins, 2 Goblets, 2 Saucers, Clear Cherry Pitcher, 2 each Gold-Plated Knives, Forks and Spoons packed in the box version with cardboard divider. (The glass pieces were made by Mosser Glass, a New England glass company and are in the Mosser’s Cherry Thumbprint pattern. They have an abundance of gold leaf and the red paint is a bright transparent red. When Mattel bought the company, they decreased the gold leaf to a minimum and the red paint is dark and much smaller.) RIBBON BOX Includes a © 1987 Birthday Pamphlet

• RARE • Pleasant Co Birthday Party Treats Version 1 (1987): Handmade by the Silvestri Company. Their stickers are on the bottoms of the 4 petit fours with attached candles. Set also includes a Doily, a Platter with no type on bottom, 2 Fans, 2 Nosegays and 2 Bombes Glacée with stems on the cherries and pale syrup. Includes a © 1988 Birthday Pamphlet

• Pleasant Co SPECIAL EDITION Bathing Costume: (1997) Skirt, Shoes, Straw Hat, Lifesaver. In a Special Edition box. Includes a ©1991 Bathing Pamphlet. The suit is somewhat easy to find but very hard to find in the “Special Edition” Box with the Bathing Costume pamphlet. The outfit was only sold in the Special Edition box in 1997. The ones that didn’t sell in 1997 were re-boxed in the current outfit box which was in 1998 the six-cameo box, in 2000 the seven-cameo box and the 2001 burgundy box with the cameos now printed on the box. This was the last box they were sold in.

• RARE • Mattel Bicycling Outfit: Blouse, Bloomers, Hat, Gaiters, Trading card. This outfit was part of the “Rollling through the Ages Collection” and also featured the tricycle. It was introduced in the Spring 2006 catalog and the whole line was retired months later. Mattel released a different bicycle outfit with the Beforever Line, but this original outfit is very hard to find and sells for a very high price especially in the original box with the UPC on the box.

• Mattel Holiday Blue Velvet Dress- LIMITED EDITION, released in early 2007 and retired a few months later. Dress has a Cream Lace Yoke and comes with a White Head Band with Rosette of Lace and Indigo. Includes a ©2007 Samantha Parkington Pamphlet
