Samantha Collection

My original collection started with this 1987 White bodied Samantha.
I have since added an original 1986 doll. She comes in a ©1986 Made in West Germany Outfit.
Shown is the RARE 1986 Meet Set, with Blue Lined Purse
Note: By mid 1987 the inventory of Blue Lined Purses had run out. Pleasant Company
replaced them with the same purse but with different linings. There are 1987 purses
with soft pink, dark pink, red, purple, gold and even a white leather lining. These are
highly collectable.

There were several lace patterns on the yoke, this one called "hearts"
is in the catalog photo and the pamphlets

1986 Release - with a 1984 Kurt Adler Tag, Christmas Clara and Nutcracker Doll
Kurt Adler was a Christmas toy importer. His items sometimes still have a gold twine
loop so they can be hung from a Christmas tree.

1986 Gingerbread House Kit. With the 1st Version of the Piping Bag. In 1988, the
bag had a Pleasant Company printed logo

This Kurt Adler import has the gold twine loop as it was intended to
hang on a Christmas tree

1986 Release and a 1986 Made in West Germany - School Dress
The "1986 Made in China" dresses were actually made in 1987. The fabric is different and the
buttons are white not translucent like these.

1986 Release - School Tin Lunch Box, with Department 56 sticker on the bottom
of the Lunchbox, Silvestri stickers on the food, and the 1986 version of the lunch napkin.

This is the late 1987 and 1988 Rare Tulip napkin. It was substituted for the 1986 version
when supplies ran out. By 1989, the new vendor went back to a design more
similar to the 1986 napkin. These are RARE and hard to find. Some, like this one
had a ©1988 Pleasant Company label. Others had no label.

1987 Release and a ©1986 Made in China - Birthday Dress
This is the first made Birthday dress. This dress was never made in West Germany
The lace pattern on the apron was only used a couple of years and then changed to
a different pattern.

1987 Release - with the 1st Version of the Birthday Lemonade Set
with the RARE Butterfly tablecloth.
The paint on the first versions of the glassware was a bright translucent red. Later versions
have dark almost blacked cherries. Also the gold leaf gets greatly reduced.

1987 Release - Birthday Treats, First Version: Silvestri Stickers on bottom of Petit Fours
and Nosegays, Leaves on the nosegays is an olive green, first version ice creams with pale syrup
and stems on the cherries, The white plate does not have anything printed on the bottom.
By 1988 the plates have "Pleasant Company" printed on the bottom. After 2000, it is
changed to "American Girl."

1987 Release - Merrythought England tagged Bear. The shape of the bears head is different from
the non-Merrythought bears. Rare amber eyes and peach-pink ribbon. The other eye
colors of the Merrythought Bears are Very Rare Orange, and the common brown.

Samantha's Ice Cream Maker. Original Made for the Addy Collection in 1994. Was added
to Samantha's Collection in 1998. It would've come in a white box with 5 cameo girls band

1988 Release and ©1988 Made in China tag - Summer Middy Outfit
with the RARE 1988 High Button Shoes with Wooden heels. The first heels were these
round wooden ones. Then they were switched to hard plastic attached to the sole. Later
Mattel changed the shoes to a thin flat heel made of the same sole material.
